In the past months, casinos across the US have been easing into reinstated mandates. It started with employees having to wear masks again, then turned into workers forced to undergo weekly testing if not vaccinated, and some even fired staff members who refused to comply. But this week, the well-expected announcement has been made by Harrah’s New Orleans Hotel & Casino. It has become the first casino in America to require proof of vaccination or a negative COVID-19 test upon entrance. MGM Resorts casino employees are to get a vaccine or pay $15 weekly fee

While some businesses are firing employees who refuse the unpolished vaccine, MGM Resorts in Vegas gives casino staff “options” to choose from. Everyone working in the facility is to show proof of the vaccine or pay $15 every single week for COVID-19 tests until they do so. This softer version of an ultimatum will cost workers hundreds of dollars down the road.
