Little did he know that wasn’t going to be the last, and he went down a spiral of a destructive gambling addiction that left him with a £100,000 debt and excruciating suicidal thoughts.  

For the first time in history, the entire globe shared a comparable struggle - the pandemic lockdown. The deaths from COVID are certainly the main subject of this painful period, but even those who weren’t touched by the virus got a neat old slap in many other ways. Some lost their jobs, others had to stay outside of hospital doors while their loved ones were dying inside, and many took relief in morally forbidden things like drugs and alcohol abuse. This is an undeniable fact, as alcohol sales went up by 60% in the past year, and drug-related crimes began taking over regions all around the earth. 

Online gambling is a hot topic, as it became one of the fastest-growing industries in the world. One of the main reasons for the success in the niche is the pandemic that prompted millions of people to find new activities due to simple boredom or desperation during the lockdown. And even those who already gambled at land-based casinos were forced to find an alternative since most facilities closed. Either way, that served as a massive spike in revenue for operators who know the art of attractive advertisement. 

A USA-based live streaming platform called Twitch (owned by Amazon) was originally designed for users to channel and provide commentary on video games. But of course, not one online platform in the world goes without a few individuals using it for completely unrelated purposes. Even strange ones like ASMR (Autonomous Sensory Meridian Response), fortune telling, ladies in bikinis releasing intestinal gases, and more. But now Twitch has a new "genre" to deal with - channels streaming illegal gambling.
