Hundreds of illegal online casinos in Australia have been blocked over the years due to illegal operations. Yet, they keep surfacing, and review sites are being less than helpful in terms of eliminating the criminal and civil offenses caused by them. Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA) reaches out to the country’s internet service providers for backup, as illegal online gambling activities continue posing risks to problem players and those who underestimate the importance of a gaming license on casino sites. AMCA representatives instruct consumers to report unlicensed gambling services.

Such burglary attempts as the one William Ferguson, 66, pulled six times in a row are seldom heard of. A serial casino burglar will serve no less than years behind the bars for stealing more than $20,000 worth of casino chips.

It’s been almost a year since Ukraine’s president, Volodymyr Zelensky, signed the country’s 2020 Gambling Act into law. Since then, operators that wished to run brick-and-mortar casinos, online casinos, betting shops (in-person and online), slot-machine parlors, and online poker games, got a green light to offer their services within the country as long as they met the necessary requirements. Unfortunately, a good portion of operators swept the rules under the rug and carried on with illegal operations. Failure to comply resulted in hundreds of online casinos being blocked. 

Russia has a backward and forward history when it comes to gambling laws. Online casinos have been outlawed in Russia since 2017 due to an overwhelming amount of unlicensed operators. Internet service providers blocked gambling-related websites in the country, and the government shared plans of using the latest technologies to ensure that players have zero access to online casinos. As this went on, another major issue surfaced among Russia’s banks - payment pocketing from illegal gambling markets. 

The ongoing issue of illegal gambling streams on Twitch has seen little to no attention from the site creators until earlier this August. But despite the alarming need for strict measures, a slight regulation has been introduced in order to prevent streamers from engaging in unlawful betting activities. Being that Twitch makes benefits from channels like Trainwreck and xQc, it’s possible that this band-aid solution was proposed in order to silence the complaining public, and allow streamers to carry on with shady, money-making activities.
