And not just one, but two if you’re up for the Pfizer doses. The Columbus, Ohio, Hollywood casino has made a rather strange deal for players due to the low vaccination rate in the area. Only 36% of individuals in the region have received a shot, so the gambling industry took it upon itself to fix the issue.

The gambling industry never sleeps - new technologies continuously surface at an impressive speed, and it's always worth checking out. Hundreds of gaming industry vendors came together for an unforgettable event at the Indian Gaming Tradeshow and Convention in Las Vegas this July to share the new gambling technologies, some of which are already available across casino floors. 

For the first time in history, the entire globe shared a comparable struggle - the pandemic lockdown. The deaths from COVID are certainly the main subject of this painful period, but even those who weren’t touched by the virus got a neat old slap in many other ways. Some lost their jobs, others had to stay outside of hospital doors while their loved ones were dying inside, and many took relief in morally forbidden things like drugs and alcohol abuse. This is an undeniable fact, as alcohol sales went up by 60% in the past year, and drug-related crimes began taking over regions all around the earth. 

While some businesses are firing employees who refuse the unpolished vaccine, MGM Resorts in Vegas gives casino staff “options” to choose from. Everyone working in the facility is to show proof of the vaccine or pay $15 every single week for COVID-19 tests until they do so. This softer version of an ultimatum will cost workers hundreds of dollars down the road. 

In the past months, casinos across the US have been easing into reinstated mandates. It started with employees having to wear masks again, then turned into workers forced to undergo weekly testing if not vaccinated, and some even fired staff members who refused to comply. But this week, the well-expected announcement has been made by Harrah’s New Orleans Hotel & Casino. It has become the first casino in America to require proof of vaccination or a negative COVID-19 test upon entrance.
