Senior Reporter

Choctaw Casino Resort Durant has already made it on the list of the largest casinos in Oklahoma. A luxurious stay with immense gambling entertainment opportunities has already hit massive success among locals and visitors since 2006, but the recent $600 million expansion took it to the next level. Thousands of new slot machines, dozens of additional table games, 1,000 added rooms, extra job opportunities, and more are a reason to party it up - which is exactly what will be happening during the grand opening weekend, starting August 6.

GREAT BEFORE, EVEN BETTER NOW

Those who have never visited Oklahoma may not know about the thrilling gambling industry that is made up of 100+ casinos. In fact, OK has the most casinos out all states in the USA right after Las Vegas. While it is true that Oklahomans will deep fry anything, and have created more man-made lakes than any other state over the years - Oklahoma also deserves to be recognized for the mind-blowing gambling facilities. Luxurious resorts, modernized casino entertainment, and other fancy amenities are rich in selection

Choctaw Casino Resort Durant happens to be one of the more unforgettable casino experiences. Since the 2006 launch that offered 100,000 of gambling space, there were four massive expansions that significantly contributed to the revenue, as well as guests’ satisfaction. Despite already having 716 luxurious rooms across 14 floors, a Grand Theater, family entertainment centre, a Grand Tower with a spa, Choctaw decided to go even bigger. The project began in the spring of 2019, and took approximately two years to complete. While the initial plan included a budget of $500M, the end results came at a “bit” of an extra cost, resulting in a $600 million (total) elevation expansion.

HERE IS WHAT’S NEW

This Thursday, Choctaw Casino Resort Durant opened their doors to thousands of guests, showing off 3,200 new slot machines, 40 additional table games, 30 poker tables, 1,000 extra high-end rooms in the 21-story hotel tower - and that’s not all. This expansion turned Choctaw Durant into one of the largest casino resorts in the world. The project added to a total number of 136 tables and over 7,200 gambling machines in the 300,000-square-foot Sky Tower. The grand opening was planned to take place in July, but a series of unexpected events slightly pushed the date. Choctaw Casino director of resort marketing, Brien Caldwell was not phased by the pushback,

"We are on schedule. We're gonna be opening, our grand opening is in August...Like most people in the industry, we did experience a couple delays mainly just due to material shortages as well as this past February with the cold snap, that was just a slight delay," he stated.

Now the guests will also have the opportunity to indulge in the posh selection of fine wines and irresistible steak and seafood dishes from talented chefs at the facility’s 1832 Steakhouse. That’s only one of the 6 food and drink additions. Breakfast, lunch, dinner and overnight meals – including “Salt” (surf) and “Stone” (turf) dishes made of fresh ingredients at Salt & Stone will also add a dash of an authentic eatery experience. Two Starbucks’ and The Reserve whiskey bar are added to deliver an array of beverages.

Trendy items Johnny Was, Gucci, and Tory Burch are now awaiting fashionable guests as a part of a new Elevated Shopping experience. Once it’s time to relax, the three-acre tropical escape with two separate pools will be perfect for a relaxing dip. Better yet, one of them is reserved for adults only, including 50 poolside cabanas, and hand-crafted beverages from the four outdoor bars. However, the new pools are still in the works, but it shouldn’t be long until they are finally open. Despite the slight adjustments, all went according to the plan. Chief Gary Batton of the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma made the following statement,

"Today is a special day for the Choctaw Nation as we embark upon an expansion journey that will result in a top-tier entertainment offering for our region and will spur economic growth for Durant and our state, plus new employment opportunities for our tribal and community members. The expansion will go a long way in meeting the demands of our growing customer base by delivering exciting new enhancements and luxury amenities for all who visit," he shared during the groundbreaking event back in April.

One of the more meaningful aspects of the expansion happens to be job opportunities. Thousands of Native staff members will be a part of the casino’s team, and receive a series of generous full-time benefits including company-Sponsored Health Insurance, 401(k) Retirement Plan with up to a 5% match after completing 1 year of service, and more. Choctaw Casino's marketing director Brien Caldwell is determined to bring forth the opportunities,

"The goal for Choctaw is to provide for its tribal members, to bring over 1,200 jobs to the Durant economy...So 1,200 jobs is a lot."

Aside from supporting the Natives during the national unemployment crisis, the hiring project is expected to create a boost to the Durant’s economy. All in all, the expansion was a success on every level.

CELEBRATION WEEKEND FOR ALL

To properly celebration the grand opening expansion, Choctaw Resort and Casino is welcoming guests for a thrilling weekend full of festivities, entertaining events, and winning opportunities. Starting on August 6 and ending on the 8th, lucky participants will have a chance at winning massive prizes during the $1 Million Grand Opening Giveaway. Real-time DJ entertainment, Live Cirque performers, Art Installations, and Dueling Violinists will bring their talents to spice up the weekend. And of course, the gambling aspect will be no less satisfying; the overwhelming number slots, table games, racebook wagering, are sports betting options are of no shortage.

Aria Resort & Casino climber now fights for Nevadas operators

As Nevada’s casinos faced another wave of repetitive mandates, gamblers and right-winged freedom fighters began taking action against the re-imposed regulations. One noteworthy incident was reported earlier this August as Maison Des Champs, 22, scaled a Vegas casino building ropeless. After getting arrested, he decided to dedicate his time and efforts to bring back freedom to Nevada’s gamblers and casino employees. This week, Des Champs organized a protest that had astounding traction despite the media’s lack of coverage. Las Vegas casino fans join in to push for normalcy.

Young man climbs over 60 floors of Aria Resort and Casino to protest COVID-19 mandates

Just as Nevada got a taste of freedom after the lockdown, mask mandates went back into effect Friday, this late June. Not many are happy with the reinstated regulations, but very few attempt to push back against the retrogression. However, a 22-year-old man named Maison Des Champs took it upon himself to make a statement, quite a shocking one too. After losing his grandfather to suicide during the lockdown, he began to protest against the government’s infringement on freedom. This Tuesday, Des Champs climbed 60-some floors of the Aria Resort and Casino’s exterior to send a message.
